General

What is a HALLCO® LIVE FLOOR® moving floor?

It is a floor of aluminium slats laid side by side in the truck box, split into three groups and moved back and forth in a cycle by a hydraulic drive. Bulk cargo on the floor creeps towards the rear door until the box is empty. The box stays level throughout, with no tipping.

Are a live floor, a moving floor and a self-unloading floor the same thing?

They are different names for the same kind of equipment: a moving floor of slats that travel back and forth to push bulk cargo out of the box. LIVE FLOOR® is a trademark of HALLCO Industries, which filed the first patent for this type of floor in 1968.

Is Nhu Tin an authorized dealer?

Yes. Nhu Tin Corporation is the authorized dealer of HALLCO Industries, Inc. in Vietnam. Nhu Tin installs to the factory's procedures and registers the warranty directly with HALLCO.

Can the floor be used to load cargo into the box?

Yes, with a two-way drive. The i-4000 and i-6000 come in one-way and two-way versions; the BRUTE 8000 line is two-way. Reverse the cycle and the floor pulls cargo in from the rear door.

Price and installation

How much does a HALLCO® moving floor cost?

The price depends on the box length, the slat type, the drive model and whether it is a new build or a retrofit. Send Nhu Tin your truck type, box dimensions and usual cargo, and we will quote for exactly that configuration.

Can you fit a truck that is already in service?

Yes. HALLCO® floors fit almost any trailer, truck or container, new or used. Nhu Tin surveys the chassis and box first to see what reinforcement or changes are needed.

How long does installation take?

It differs between fitting a newly built trailer and retrofitting an existing box, and it depends on the condition of the chassis. After the survey, Nhu Tin gives you a firm schedule so you can plan around the truck's downtime.

What information do I need for a quote?

Vehicle type (trailer, box truck, container), inside box dimensions, new build or in service, cargo type and load per trip, and whether the tractor already has a hydraulic pump. Photos of the box and chassis speed up the quote.

Operation and maintenance

What does the tractor need to run the floor?

A hydraulic supply: a pump driven by a power take-off (PTO) or the engine, an oil tank, a filter and lines. For the i-Series and BRUTE, HALLCO requires a pressure of 207 bar or more and a flow of no more than 114 litres per minute. Nhu Tin checks the tractor's existing system during the survey.

How is the system maintained?

Mostly through the hydraulics: use anti-wear oil of ISO viscosity 32 to 46, keep it clean and dry (water below 1%), change the filters on time and never let the oil exceed 82 °C. Check the slats, bearings and bolts regularly as the manual describes. Nhu Tin takes your team through this at handover.

How long does it take to unload a trip?

It depends on the box length, the cargo and the pump flow. HALLCO gives a maximum theoretical load speed of about 2.3 m/min for the i-4000 and 1.6 m/min for the i-6000 at rated flow. For light cargo, the two-step Accelerator™ mode unloads up to 30% faster.

Can the floor unload inside a covered warehouse?

Yes. The box stays level throughout unloading, so it needs no overhead clearance the way a tipper does. This is one of the main reasons customers switch to moving floors.

Warranty and parts

What is the warranty?

The i-Series system carries a 2-year warranty for the first owner from the date of delivery. The selling dealer must register it with the factory within 10 days of delivery.

What is not covered by the warranty?

Normal wear, filter elements, damage from dirty or wrong oil, oil above 82 °C, corrosive cargo, overloading, repairs by unauthorized parties and electrical faults from wrong wiring. The full list is on the warranty page.

Are spare parts available?

Genuine HALLCO® parts are ordered through Nhu Tin. Lead times vary by part number, and we confirm them when you ask. For frequently worn items such as filter elements, keep spares on hand.

What do I need to order parts?

The drive's serial number and model, with photos of the drive, the floor or the part to replace. The serial plate is on the rear base manifold. For slats, also measure the leg-to-leg distance, thickness and top width of the old slat.

Cargo and payload

What cargo can the floor carry?

According to HALLCO, the floor moves any bulk material with enough weight on the floor and enough friction: wood chips, sawdust, rice husk, cashew nut shells, produce, animal feed, waste, scrap and coal. Corrosive cargo is outside the warranty, so ask Nhu Tin first if yours is.

What payload can the floor handle?

The i-4000 drive is rated at 35 tons, the i-6000 at 45 tons and the BRUTE 8000 at 40 tons (US tons, about 0.907 metric tonnes each). The actual payload also depends on the trailer design. Exceeding the rated load or legal limits voids the warranty.

Will wet waste drip onto the road?

With the W Floor™, the floor is leak-tight across the full length and width of the box and keeps liquids in the truck. For less wet cargo such as compost or recyclables, HALLCO has the leak-resistant NLR and NLR-HD profiles.

Can it carry palletized goods?

HALLCO lists backhaul capability, including palletized goods, on a forklift-rated floor. Nhu Tin confirms the right configuration once you tell us what your backhaul cargo is.
